This is UPS896 arrival on December 23, 2005 starting at 6:05 AM. Example of Aircraft Noise v. Background Noise – February 16, 2005, 3AM – 6 AM

This chart provides a comparison of the sound events from three UPS flights to ambient background noise. The noise from these UPS overflights in the middle of the night is almost as loud as a vacuum cleaner to the residents at this site in Folsom!!

  • 30 decibels or below – Bedroom noise at night

  • 62 to 74 decibels – Noise range of the three UPS flight

  • 70 decibels – Sound of a vacuum cleaner 10 feet away

These single level noise events are disruptive to sleep and will only increase in quantity should Mather become an international cargo hub!
